The Desert Wind Dancers

The Desert Wind Dancers is the student repertory troupe under the direction of Galatea Middle Eastern Dance.  Formed in September 2007, the troupe consists of students enrolled in Galatea's Level 2 classes at various locations.  The purpose of the troupe is to provide Belly Dance students with the opportunity to perform in appropriate and safe venues.  The Desert Wind Dancers made their performance debut at the Tarik Sultan Workshop Showcase on December 1st, 2007.

Participation in the repertory troupe is voluntary, and is not required of Level 2 students.  Mandatory troupe rehearsals are held on Sunday afternoons, and consist of choreography not covered in other classes.  Troupe members must exhibit a required level of commitment in regards to attendance, outside class practice and costuming in order take part in performances.  Entrance into the troupe is opened up at various time throughout the year when new choreographies are begun.
