Biography


Galatea is a Middle Eastern Dance (a.k.a. "Belly Dance") artist in both the Pan-Arabic and American Cabaret styles.  She performs regularly in the Milwaukee and Chicago areas, and has also danced throughout the state of Wisconsin.  She performs at restaurants, staged shows and private parties.  Galatea has been the subject of feature articles in the Germantown Banner-Press (click here to download article), Menomonee Falls News, and West Bend Daily News (click here to download article).  Click here for a list of upcoming performances, and here for booking information.


With a strong background in Western Dance styles such as Tap, Jazz and Ballet, Galatea began studying Middle Eastern Dance in 2003.  Her instructors have included Romnea, Shaia Fahrid,  Stefanie Masters and currently, Sabah of the Bellydance Superstars.  In addition, Galatea has taken workshops with master instructors from America (Suhaila Salimpour, Bozenka, Princess Farhana, Jim Boz, and Aziza, among others) and Egypt (Tito, Aida Nour and Lubna Emam).

She began teaching Belly Dance in the fall of 2005.  For a list of Galatea's classes, click here.  She is also happy to arrange Private or Semi-Private lessons in her home studio (subject to availability).  In September 2007, Galatea began her student performance troupe, The Desert Wind Dancers.

In 2008, Galatea was honored to be chosen as a finalist in the Pro Cabaret category of the Midwest Bellydance Challenge competition.  At the same event, one of her students, Nasim, was awarded the 3rd Place trophy in the Student category.  Nasim went on to place 2nd in the 2009 Maqam Challenge the very next year.

Galatea is an officer of the Chicago chapter of MECDA, the Middle Eastern Culture and Dance Association.  This organization is dedicated to serving as a source of communication, education and inspiration to the Middle Eastern Dance community, as well as to the general public.
